I’m pretty sure I’ve been ruined for life for any other Sloppy Joe recipe. This is originally my Dad’s recipe. (I have no idea if he got it from someone or if he made it up) We had this All.The.Time. Family functions, birthdays, game days. Especially game days. It became a staple. My friends have had this numerous times. It’s just a thing.
My dad has always made them, but I decided to take the reigns and learn how to make them as well. The only problem is that we literally had no measurements. It was just a list of ingredients with no rhyme or reason. But my friends started asking for the recipe, so I figured I needed to finally write down the actual measurements.
With that said, this is still a recipe that you will taste and add, taste and add depending on your preferences. I like mine a little sweeter. Shocker. So I usually add a little more brown sugar. You might like yours with a little more vinegar flavor. (think North Carolina barbecue sauce). So you do you.
You gotta give this recipe a try for the next big game day, but don’t expect a lot of leftovers. These go fast!
