Chocolate Ice Cream
Homemade ice cream has a major memory for me which includes the 4th of July. The Martin's had an annual 4th of July party and Tom Martin always made homemade ice cream. And this was back in the day homemade ice cream with a bucket and the rock salt. No Cuisinart for him. (thank goodness for automatic machines though, otherwise I would never make ice cream)
I would always get a little bit of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate and it would slowly melt while we sat in the grass and ate it and watched fireworks. (slightly soupy is my favorite. I realize I am in the minority). So now every 4th of July and the smell of fireworks always takes me back to that annual party and old school ice cream.
So now that I'm a full on adult (ish), I can make my very own ice cream and sit in the grass while I complain about people lighting fireworks off a week before the 4th. Not sure when I became this old.
If you are looking for an incredibly easy ice cream recipe with a super chocolate flavor, then you should definitely try this one out. Bonus is that you can use this as a base and add in any little treats you like. You are an adult too and can do whatever your little heart desires.
What are your 4th of July childhood memories? If you make this or any other Lolo's recipe, be sure to snap a photo and tag #lolosdesserts. I love to see what you are making!
